Koh Samui Travel Guide

Koh Samui is the third largest island of Thailand and a tourist hot spot. It is close to the Surat Thani town and therefore whoever visits Surat Thani must visit this beautiful island of Thailand .

Overview: The history of human inhabitation in Koh Samui started in the 15 th century when the fishermen from China and Malay Peninsula came here. Beautiful beaches, uninhabited dense forests, mountains and low lying areas are the main areas of Koh Samui. The climate is tropical with warm summers and mild winters.

Sightseeing: Most important sightseeing attraction of Koh Samui is the twelve meter high Buddha statue. Other attractions include Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks, Ang Thong National Marine Park , mountain jungle and beautiful beaches.

Things to do: Take some time out for watching Muay Thai boxing. Pearl and Phumriang Silk are the main local products that you can buy from the local markets in Koh Samui. Engage in the various adventure sports like parasailing and water rafting. This island of Thailand is dotted with bars and pubs therefore the nightlife is also good here.

Dining: Koh Samui is an island and therefore you would get very good seafood here. Restaurants and food kiosks in the beaches provide enough eating opportunities. If you want to have western foods then you can get that too in the outlets of KFC and McDonald's.
